I am presenting a floral composition at this year’s painting exhibition of the Warsaw District of the Association of Polish Artists. This time it is not a cotarban. The painting comes from a series that is part of a larger project. Why the floral elements in me, Marek Kotarba?
Contemporary art is constantly seeking new forms of expression, and floral motifs are becoming increasingly popular as a symbol of nature and beauty.
Artists are increasingly using floral motifs in a variety of media, from painting to art installations, creating unique works that transport the viewer to a different aesthetic dimension.
One of the leading artists working on this theme is Yayoi Kusama, known for her obsessive motifs of droplets and flowers that permeate visual space, creating an impression of infinity.
It is worth mentioning here the work of Georgia O’Keffee, who, with her floral paintings, was a singer of female eroticism.
Floral motifs not only decorate canvases or gallery spaces, but also become an integral part of street art, where artists, like Banksy, create murals with floral inspiration.
I must mention here his mural in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district from the ‘Żoliborz in Flowers‘ project.
In graphic design projects of the 21st century, artists such as Takashi Murakami introduce floral motifs as an element of popular culture, combining traditional art with modern technologies.
In contemporary art, floral motifs often symbolise not only beauty but also transience.
Kinetic art also makes use of floral motifs, as in the case of the ‘Wind Lotus’ sculpture created by Anthony Howe, which moves in a delicate dance under the influence of the wind.
The modern use of floral motifs in contemporary art not only renews traditional symbols, but also opens up new interpretative perspectives, encouraging reflection on the relationship between man and nature in an age of technology. And it is precisely here that I see the possibility and my role, of Marek Kotarba, as an artist joining the discussion on the broad topic of protecting the beauty of nature and saving the human environment.
